Body Politic:

An experimental piece about sex and feminism, and the simultaneously longing to be desired and liberated from the internalized misogyny. I created and performed this piece as an MFA candidate at Towson University. Oranges dropped from the ceiling while I stretched in the “bed” below.

Performing Mothering Apollo in Frontera Fest at Hyde Park Theater in Austin, Texas 2017

Mothering Apollo began with an improvised performance while my youngest child was in the NICU (in critical condition after failed surgical attempts to repair life-threatening anomalies). This devised theatre series became a vital way of coping, educating family and friends, and harnessing love for my family. When we were finally able to bring him home he still required a great deal of nursing care, and procedures in the O.R. which meant more hospital time. The monthly performance-devising process helped me to feel and express fear, grief, and frustration, and to crystalize the profound lessons I was learning.
