Performing Mothering Apollo in Frontera Fest at Hyde Park Theater in Austin, Texas 2017

Kate Robinson, MFA

I’m so glad you’re here! I’m the executive creative director of Fox Serving Pie Studio for Feminist Inquiry based in Austin.

I currently consult for Fusebox and Dell Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic’s Narrative Medicine Pilot Project.

My partner and I have two children, one of whom is medically complex and has a rare, chornic disease.

I proudly managed family partnerships during the pandemic for the SickKids C6 Seminar Series (Collaborative Conversations with Families to Advance the Clinical Care of Children with Medical Complexities). I directed the Family Voices National Vaccine Outreach Initiative, participated in the Children with Medical Complexity CoIIN, co-produced a website highlighting key lessons from the Network, and became faculty of The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) ECHO on Mental Health.

I’m the creator and executive producer of the educational film Failing Forward. I’m the producer and co-director of the long-running improvisational performance series Mothering Apollo, which began when my youngest child was in the NICU and continued for several years. I’m also the creator and executive producer of the PBS documentary Saving Philanthropy.

I’m the former Director of Strategic Initiatives for Social Solutions Global, Inc., where I led a national advisory board of high-performing nonprofit organizations and conducted extensive research on evaluation strategies. I’m also the former Executive Director of the Consumer Health Coalition, where I helped coordinate a campaign to increase the accessibility of Medicaid waiver programs.

Apollo advocating for Medicaid in the U.S. Senate 2017

Medicaid Saves Lives

On Capitol Hill, I advocated for the expansion of Medicaid for children with rare disease, speaking with senators like John Cornyn (R-TX) who were opposed.
